Notes:
  • This might not be ever released as Zimbra 10.1.0 but rather as Zimbra 11. The current tag naming scheme has been used in the past by Zimbra in order to avoid speculations about future releases. E.g. Some of the 10 features first appeared as 9.1 in the git repos.
You should not see issues like this in the future. What was released as Zimbra 10.0 was originally versioned as Zimbra 9.1. This was changed to better reflect the nature of the release.

The intent behind using proper semantic versioning for the product (major.minor.patch) is to allow users to understand the impact of a change and understand the risk of updating.

At a very high level this translates to:
  • Patch Release - Security and Bug fixes only - intended to not include significant features. - low / no risk
  • Minor Release - Feature Enhancement - May include new features or functions, feature extensions, schema changes - minor risk as expected features may change
  • Major Release - Architectural Changes - moderate risk, may require planning
Hope this helps.
